So…before I go MIA for a while…here it goes!!!
Today was my last day in ROME. I leave on a train at 7am. Wow!! Really?? What in the world? How does time always manage to just flash before me?? I was just in Auburn anticipating a true “experience of a lifetime”. I would start it all over again if I had the choice. The is no phrase worthy of capturing the past 2 months of my life {except maybe…”complete whirlwind”}.
What is a girl to do when she has less than 48 hours left in Rome, and 5,000 more things she wants to do? Not sleep?? That is where it all starts.
Starting Monday night:
I ventured north of town to visit with Erin and her sweet family one last night before I leave (more tears!!) Her and I planned a girls night in! Jealous? Although before our fun began, I played with Stella and Diego. So FUN! I read them good night stories in bed, and gave them xoXOxo! Then the chatting began. We talked, enjoyed being in good company, ate well, and watched a chick flick!! Perfect night to say the least!! I will miss my sweet Rome family!!
Then Tuesday was fun-filled as well. One of the best parts was lunch at Bramante’s cloister with our sweet professor Magdalena. The food was like a huge party in my tummy!! YUM! But the fun had only began because Tuesday night Jenn and I attended the Les Ballets Russe ballet performance @ Teatro dell’ Opera di Roma.
beautiful.
stunning.
creative.
orchestra…speechless [harp and violin, ahhh}
costumes….take a look for yourself.

note: the dancer above {Carla Fracci} is one of the most famous in all of Italy. And just guess how old she is??
Got your number??
Keep on scrolling down…
What do you think??? 20….30…….50……………76???
Okay…got it??
Drum ROLL please……………..73 years old. So think about it when you are signing your kids up for fall activities, think DANCE?? It is for lifetime. Little girls in Auburn…sign up with Stacy {my soon to be sister-in-law} at Variations. And maybe, just maybe, with a little hard work you will be the next Carla of America when you grow up, like way UP!!
I must say there is nothing like dressing up and going to the THEATER!! BEAUTIFUL!

Tuesday night ended around 12am, when we finally made it home from the theater. And, unfortunately Wednesday am came way to soon. WITH LOTS OF “STUFF” to check off the list. This list that I speak up will make your legs ache if I go into detail, so I will spare you the misery.
FAST FORWARDDDDDDDDDDDD……………………….
Wednesday at 4:00pm {16.00 actually, I have been living in Italy for 2 months} our studios convened at Trajan’s market (a part of the Ancient Forum). This is where we celebrated the end of the ROME Studio Workshop. 99.9% of all the Romans will never even get the opportunity to engage in this space like we did, and our work was on display here.
Yes, overlooking the forum, Piazza Venezia, Trajans column…you get it? great experience.

our work on display inside the museum:

my team’s poster presentation:

All of the architectural elements of the Trajan Market Museum left me in awe. I especially was fond of the center pivot windows. Let me help paint a picture for you of what is going on in my “design mind imagination”…Just think beach house in Seaside over looking the gulf. You wake up early morning, open your HUGE pivot windows in the living room. The salty breeze rushes in, and fresh air swarms the room. Your eyes cannot help but to follow the rays of morning sun as they glisten amongst the sky. You curl up, coffee in hand, on your comfy sofa covered in a Colefax & Fowler fabric {Mom, possibly one of our favorites that lie in our endless stack of samples upstairs. You know like the ones that I covet, and dream of using?} And there you have your “morning time” as I like to call it.

Okay, okay…back with me to the real world now…since I am not curled up on the comfy couch with my coffee, I must find it somewhere else. In Rome, that place is Bodum. Mmmm, Mmmm, Mmmm…goodness. Today was our last visit there {more tears} to see our sweet friends Marianne {and Elisabeth who was off today}. We just could not resist a quick photo, and exchange of emails. I am going to miss BODUM, our sweet friends there even more!!
…but I maintained my composure so far. Aren’t you proud? Miss Emotional is under control.
Oh no!! I spoke to soon, because when I went to tell my sweet neighbor Sylvia good by I lost it. SHE is a lady with a heart for Jesus Christ like I have never seen before. She radiates LOVE!! I will miss her company and sweet sprit. I must stop here because liquid {tears} and Apple laptops do not get along very well. Plus might I remind you that I got 4 hours of sleep last night, it is already 1:45am here now, and I have a train at 7am tomorrow {actually today}
