I couldn’t agree more with this quote. The instant we feel “comfortable” God challenges us to embrace change. This past week has been busy, full of the change I am talking about, overwhelming and lots of fun all at the same time. I called my mom Tuesday morning, as I normally do as part of my morning routine – for no reason in particular. Just our routine morning chat. However, this particular early Tuesday morning was more out of a I feel a little lonely feeling? Or even homesick (I use this term loosely). She reassured me that I must continue to embrace every moment that life sweeps my way. Sometimes those moments are good, and some are bad. Some of socially eventful, and some are lonely. Some will strike up feelings of JOY, and some pure self-pity –not going to acceptable in my book b/c I have to many blessings to be grateful for. Mom’s words that morning reminded me of this, and I voted (for myself) that I was going to skip down the street with my head held high. So I encourage you to live by Walsch’s words, and step out of your comfort zone and let life play out in real time. Along with this comes social awkwardness, tears, solo meals, walks alone and lots of “me” time. However these feelings are always accompanied by new friendly faces, confidence, a stronger relationship with the Lord, smiles, laughs, life lessons and lots of memories. Comment if you have a chance, in what ways do you find yourself stepping out of your comfort zone today? I pray for your strength and courage. Remember your roots AND fly (aka Mom’s words to me!)

This is a great quote and very fitting for this next chapter in my life, as well. I just accepted a job that scares me as much as it excites me, and I am stepping out in faith that the Lord has opened this door because He has given me what I need to do this. My uncle recently sent some wise and encouraging words that are timely, as well. I hope they’re a blessing to you, too.
“We {his family} have been focusing on the idea of blooming where you are planted for some time. The idea being to make the most of the time and season that God has put us in at this moment. . receiving what God has in this season and living radiantly in it. Learning to live in fulness, power, strength in every moment regardless of the particular set of circumstances that we are in. I’m changing bit by bit as a result. It’s a very cool thing to feel like you are living in fulness in any situation. It’s possible because it comes from the inside – from having heart connection with God and by believing (truly believing) what He has said. I want to live powerfully in any and every situation of life. I want to live out of a position of strength from the inside. I don’t want to let circumstances dictate my spirit and outlook.”
Love this quote, Julie. Embrace these next couple of weeks, you are already having so much fun! Love you and thinking of you!
This quote is my life. God has drawn a map for me that I sometimes cannot quite understand but am obedient enough to follow. I was born in New York, lived there for 14 years, was sent to bording school in Argentina, lived there for 18 years. Embraced an opportunity to come back home and live in VA, been here for 8 years. Talk about confort zones! Looking back, each experience has in one way or another brought me closer to Him and in return I have received enormous blessings.
Julie, embrace change as you embrace breathe, make it your second nature and look for a lesson at every turn. Make every experience worth while!
Good Luck in the Big Apple! I love your blog and constantly draw inspiration from it.

I love this post and especially love your mom’s quote remember your roots and Fly. It is easy to get complacent with life and scared to death of change….thanks for reminding us that God wants us to step out of our comfort zone in order to work in our lives. So excited for you (and a little jealous:)). Enjoy every second!
