I never have been a big fan of the old-timey doily. They just kind of add an undesired “dated” funk to things in my eyes; and don’t quite do anything for me. They are very tea-partyish, which in that case, work well for fun, frilly and pink celebrations. But, not to fret, there is always a pillow of looming inspiration that can be drawn from “our delicate laced ancestors”. With a little modernity, we can always come up with a new use for an old-time design:

I really love personalization/customization aka monogramming…and love Leontine Linens. They are rather pricey bed linens, quilts, and accessories, but definitely worth taking a look at. The options for monogram embroidery and appliques is absolutely endless. True couture for the home! To my excitement, there is a showroom in Atlanta. And with the holidays coming up, there are a lot of less expensive items (hand towels and such) that would be great gifts.
